By default stories are sent to the Author every seven days. You can change that though very easily to whatever works best.

You have to be the Purchaser or an Editor to change the frequency with which story prompts are sent. In the Project Details section at the top of the dashboard you can click on the prompt frequency to open up the dialogue box to make changes.
