Please note you have to be an Editor or the Purchaser to change a user's role to Reader.
You may not want someone to read every story. That's why we make it possible to change a user's role for every story prompt. If you want a someone to just be a reader to a small number of story prompts, there are two easy ways to do that:
Option 1: This is best if you want an Author for most of the book to be a Reader for just a small number of stories.
As an example, let's say you've set up Aunt Mary as an Author, but want her to only be a Reader on Grandpa Alex's story "What was Rome like in the '60s?". To do so, in the Stories section of the dashboard, click on the people icon next to that story prompt. This brings up the Story Prompt Roles dialogue box. All users are listed in that box. Just change Aunt Mary from an Author to a Reader for that particular story prompt and click Save. When that story prompt is sent, Aunt Mary will now only have the ability to read that story once Grandpa Alex has submitted it.
Option 2: This is best if you want someone to just read a small number of stories, but not have rights to read other stories.
For example, let's say Max is a neighbour from down the street. You want him to read Grandpa Alex's story about "What was Rome like in the '60s?", but you don't want him to read other stories in the book. In this case, Max should be a Guest user. (If you need help in setting up Max as a user, please click this help article.)
In the Stories section of the dashboard, click on the people icon next to that story prompt. This brings up the Story Prompt Roles dialogue box. All users are listed in that box. Just change Max from "None" to "Reader" for that particular story prompt and click Save. When Grandpa Alex has submitted the story, Max will now have the ability to read it. |
