An Author is the heart and soul of Anecdobio. It is an Author's cherished memories that loved ones wish to capture in a beautiful hardcover book. When an Author receives a story prompt, they can submit text stories and photos as their response. These responses are then printed in a book.
If Anecdobio is given as a gift, then by default the recipient is an Author. Additionally, an Author can be added by either a Purchaser or an Editor. Authors can be chosen in two capacities.
The first option is that someone be added as an Author for the entire book. That Author will have the ability to respond to all the story prompts of the book. After being added as an Author, they willreceive email notifications about new story prompts, just like the original Author chosen during the initial setup process. This option is best if, for instance, you want both Grandma and Grandpa to respond to all questions.
Here is how to add an Author for the whole book:
Click on the Add a New User icon
Enter the person's name and email, and then select Author from the dropdown menu
The other option of adding an Author is if it's desired that a person only be an Author for a particular subset of questions. It maybe desired that someone be an Author to just one or a handful of questions. This option is great if you want, for instance, Uncle Tom to just only write a story about "What are you favourite memories of Aunt Beth?" and no other stories.
In this case, you would want to add the person as either a Reader or the user type Guest. Then, select the specific story prompts for which this person should be an Author. Voila!
(The difference between a "Reader" and "Guest" is that a Reader is able to read all submitted stories and gets notified when every new story is submitted. A "Guest" user doesn't have any reader or author rights unless a Purchaser or Editor explicitly gives them those rights per particular story prompt.)
